Church Repointing

I assisted a church in Evansville, IN with developing a scope of work for masonry restoration. The building was built in the 1940’s and repointing of the limestone facade was needed throughout various areas.

Without properly pointed mortar joints, water is able to infiltrate behind the stone and deteriorate the structure. Due to the age of this building and the type of stone facade, care was taken to select the appropriate mortar. Improper mortar selection can harm the building if it is incompatible with the facade material.
